Airport Adventure

We were met at the PAP airport by a five piece Haitian band with accordian. Very welcoming. Then swarmed by various folks trying to help for tips. Loaded all 28 bags up high and transportedwith them in the back of an enclosed truck through the streets of Port au Prince. Noisy, crowded and sometimes scary. Surprised at relative lack of rubble and garbage and many new buildings. Felt some hope. Bill, Kansas volunteer, Tom, Deanna and Beth met as the Guest House along with 14 staff to cater to our every need. After a lovely supper spent a few hours with our hosts learning about history, politics, religion, church involvement in Haiti and plans for the week.

80 in our room at bedtime, but fans and fatigue sent us all right to sleep. Occassionally woken up by barking dogs and roosters. Up this morning this coffee in hand and ready for the day. Cheryl

I am a member of Wendy's church. So glad you all arrived safely and found some beauty, hope and friendship there. The pictures help make the trip more real for all of us back home.
