we spent the day working super hard. some of us were assigned to demolition on the walls of frere manse. we removed much of the plaster, cement and stucco that were cracked during the earthquake. they will be doing some structural assessments and then hopefully we will be able to put the walls back up. in the meantime...we look forward to another day of tearing down. the rest of the group spent much time forming a new driveway and removing debris and relocating vegetation. after lunch, we put together hundreds of health kits and school kits that we will be distributing this week.
we had a group meeting to discuss the current events of haiti. the staff here at the guest house have translators out with groups in several different parts of the country. they have people in port au prince. they are abreast of changes in the political environment, and are in constant contact with those in the know. that
being said...all is quiet in petion-ville tonight.
quiet is a relative term. there are the roosters, and the music, and the voices in the kitchen, and horns honking (always), and after 10pm the dogs barking in the yard. it is a very sweet kind of quiet. and a safe kind of quiet. no worries.

Sounds like a good first work day yesterday. I like the picture of the rooster on the wall. Thanks for taking time to keep all of us state siders informed.
