this picture seemed to perfectly describe my first impression of haiti. beautiful yet guarded. hopeful and needful. big and small.
we have arrived safely in petion-ville and have started to get our bearings. we are at the methodist guest house and have been on a tour of the campus and our work site (which starts at 8am tomorrow). we were served an amazing dinner including fried plantains...c'est magnifique. we are all snuggling into our bunks with the sounds of guard dogs only one floor below. comforting thought. horns still honking. music playing in the distance. smell of bouganvilla on the faint (very faint) breeze.
we are staying next to l'ecole freres (not totally sure on the name). cute, cute kids practicing their english. "good morning." and cute team members practicing their kreyol. no doubt these kiddos will spend some time at our work site tomorrow. and no doubt we will keep them entertained.
